Samsung's plans for the next Galaxy S25 series are slowly taking shape. It looks like the company will abandon the "Plus" model for 2025. We know that Samsung is actively developing the S25 series, and that the Galaxy S25 Ultra is already in the works. Our database has revealed details about Samsung's upcoming devices, revealing the existence of the regular Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but the S25+ model is missing, suggesting that Samsung has indeed abandoned the S25+.

The Galaxy S25 series will include two models: the Galaxy S25 and the S25 Ultra.
The Galaxy S25 series has arrived. The Galaxy S25 is available under the model number SM-S931B/DS in our IMEI database. The Galaxy S25 Ultra has model numbers SM-S938B, SM-S938U, SM-S938N, and SM-S9380. "B" stands for Global, "U" for US, and "N" for Korea. Since 2021, Samsung has typically released three models within the Galaxy S lineup: the regular model, the Plus model, and the Ultra model.

However, the results from our database indicate that 2025 will mark a departure from this tradition. A July 2023 leak revealed that the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra were already known to be part of the series. According to leaks, the Galaxy S24 series was actually officially launched with three models in January 2024. There are only two Galaxy S25 series devices in our database. We expect Samsung to launch the Galaxy S25 series in January 2025.

Why did Samsung abandon the Galaxy S25+?
Samsung's decision to say goodbye to the Plus model is not really a big concern since the previous Plus model struggled to meet sales expectations. That is, people are not fans of the Plus models. In 2020, Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 and S20+ along with the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra. The company actually adopted a similar strategy in 2019 with the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, Galaxy Note10, and Galaxy Note10+. Typically, Samsung launched four models every year. In 2021, Samsung reduced its product range to only three models: the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra. The popular S Pen was left exclusive to the Ultra model. The discontinuation of the Plus model may also simplify Samsung's product range and reduce redundancy. The difference between the Plus and regular models has become smaller in recent years. The main differences are battery capacity and screen resolution. For example, the camera specifications of the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are the same, so the price difference makes the Plus model less attractive. Eliminating the Plus model could also be a strategic move to encourage more consumers to purchase the higher-end Ultra model. Samsung may actually be hoping that by eliminating the Plus option, it can entice more buyers to invest in the more feature-rich Ultra model.

Expected Features and Release Date
The Galaxy S25 hasn't been released yet, but many details have already surfaced online. There won't be any major camera upgrades over the regular Galaxy S25. The S25 is expected to have a 50MP main camera and a 12MP selfie camera. The selfie camera on the Galaxy S25 will be the same as the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S24. If you want a better camera, consider buying the S25 Ultra. The S25 Ultra will feature a 200MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 50MP 3x telephoto camera, and an additional 50MP 5x telephoto camera.

Previous details shared by Financial News suggested that Samsung plans to offer MediaTek chipsets in the Galaxy S series. This means that the Galaxy S25 series could feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, Exynos 2500, and possibly MediaTek chipsets. The Galaxy S25 Ultra may come with a battery with model numbers EB-BS938ABE and EB-BS938ABY, likely with a 5000mAh battery capacity. The Galaxy S25 is expected to feature a 4000mAh battery. Finally, Samsung will officially launch the new Galaxy S25 series in January.
