Asus has just unveiled the ROG Phone 9 Pro and the ROG Phone 9 based on the latest and greatest Qualcomm mobile platform - the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The main difference between the Pro and vanilla variants is the RAM and storage capacity. On the Pro version, the chipset is paired with 16GB or 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB or 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. On the vanilla version, the RAM is 12GB and the storage is 256GB. Everything else is the same.
Several AI features including AI Grabber, X Sense, and X Capture aid gaming on the ROG Phone 9 Series. Game Genie is on board including various gaming-centric features such as AirTriggers, Bypass charging, Blocked touch edges, ROS Instand Master, Vibration Mapping, Key Mapping, Crosshair, PiP Mode, etc. The models are adorned with a 6.78-inch Flexible AMOLED display by Samsung with an FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 px and a dynamic refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz. Moreover, the screen supports up to 165Hz in system setting and up to 185Hz in Game Genie. The display's maximum brightness in high-brightness mode is 1600 nits and the local peak brightness hits 2500 nits. It covers 107.37% of the DCI-P3 and 145.65% of the sRGB color space. A Corning Gorilla Glass Victus ensures the screen's protection. A 5800 mAh battery powers the devices and supports 65W fast charging.
The camera department of the ROG Phone 9 Pro and the ROG Phone 9 is headed by a 50MP Sony LYT-700 unit with a 1/1.56" sensor size, an f/1.9 aperture, a 23.8 mm focal length equivalent, a 6-element lens, 2x2 on-chip PDAF, and gimbal OIS support. There's a 13MP ultra-wide camera with a 120° FoV, free-form lens, and a 12.7 mm focal length equivalent. Finally, there's a 32MP telephoto lens with an f/2.4 aperture and OIS on the ROG Phone 9 Pro and a 5MP macro lens on the vanilla ROG Phone 9. A 32MP RGBW sensor is used for the selfie camera. The ROG Phone 9 models are fitted with dual multi-magnet stereo speakers. They also have a headphone jack and support Hi-Res Audio with up to 384 kHz / 32-bit for 3.5mm output, Dirac Virtuo for Headphone Spatial Sound, and arrive with AudioWizard with multiple listening profiles. Three microphones employ the Asus AI noise reduction technology for clear calls and videos. The main camera of each device can record 8K videos at 30 fps with 3-axis electronic image stabilization. AI is strongly covered on the ROG Phone 9 Series with AI Object Sense, AI HyperClarity, 6-axis hybrid gimbal stabilizer, and portrait video. The smartphones run on Android 15 with ROG UI on top. It supports Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 7, and NFC.
